Respiratory Scientist
Position: Part-time
Location: Frankston
$35-$40/hr (depending on experience)
Role: To perform pulmonary function testing and administrative duties.
Wattletree Lung Function Services is the first private respiratory function laboratory in Victoria to receive accreditation from the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand.
Our laboratory is based at Wattletree Specialist Consulting Suites, Frankston, which is a multidisciplinary health service provider for the local community of peninsula Victoria and extended Victorian community. The service is a growing and is an innovative healthcare organization that aims to provide exceptional healthcare to all patients. Wattletree Lung Function Services promotes this goal by offering accurate and quality pulmonary function testing to assist in patient diagnosis and treatment.
Overview of work area and position:
Respiratory Scientists work alongside physicians and administrative staff to ensure the best possible service for patients referred for pulmonary evaluation. Lung function testing is performed according to ATS/ERS guidelines and scientists are required to uphold to its level of professionalism to ensure the best quality of service.
Duties of this role will include, but are not limited to, pulmonary function testing and administrative tasks such as patient bookings, performing calibration and quality control of laboratory equipment, patient billing and more.
Eligibility:
Tertiary qualifications from an approved university including subjects of Health Science, Biology, Nursing and Physiology
Acceptable tertiary degree fields include Health Science, Biology, Nursing, Physiology, Medical Science, and Biomedical Science
Good knowledge and understanding of respiratory anatomy, respiratory disease, management, and prevention
Demonstrated ability to assess client needs within scope of service delivery
Ability to work to deadlines and be structured in allocation of time and resources
Working knowledge and ability to use IT and clinical software programs for testing and reporting requirements
Ability to contribute to reports in a concise, professional, and appropriate manner
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with other members of the team
High level of interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
Australian citizenship or permanent residency status required
Highly regarded:
Registration and Certification as a Respiratory Scientist with the Australia and New Zealand Thoracic Society (ANZSRS)
Clinical experience in pulmonary function testing
