Temporary Respiratory Scientist Role – St Leonards, NSW

We are seeking an experienced Respiratory Scientist to join our friendly and supportive team in a temporary role for three days per week, from Wednesday 27 May 2026 to Friday 19 June 2026, covering an extended period of staff leave.

The role involves 8-hour shifts on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (8:30am to 5:00pm), with some flexibility in hours if required. This position is primarily focused on respiratory laboratory work, particularly complex lung function testing.
Experience with home-based sleep study setup is desirable, but not essential, and we are happy to provide training in this area for the right candidate.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Performing complex lung function testing, including spirometry, gas transfer, static lung volumes,
respiratory muscle strength testing, bronchial provocation testing, and 6-minute walk tests
• Assisting with the setup and download of home-based sleep studies (where applicable)
• Maintaining accurate clinical records using practice software (Genie Medical Software)
• Upholding quality assurance standards, including calibration and maintenance of equipment in line with
accreditation requirements
• Liaising with the Practice Manager to support smooth day-to-day lab operations
•Mandatory requirements:
• Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in science with a strong focus on human physiology
• Current CPR certification
• Valid Working with Children Check
• Prior experience in respiratory laboratory testing is essential; experience in sleep studies is advantageous but not required

Remuneration will be highly competitive and tailored to the experience and expertise of the successful candidate.

This short-term role may also lead to future opportunities for ongoing or casual work within our respiratory laboratory.
